Civil Process

Eligibility Requirements

You must be a lawfully elected or appointed Texas Constable, an employed or officially appointed deputy constable, or an employed clerk working for a constable’s office.

All registrants will be confirmed on a first come, first served basis no matter whether they are a constable, chief deputy, deputy, or clerk. This is different than in past years. Therefore, be sure to register as soon as possible to ensure your attendance at your desired seminar location.

You must attend the entire 20 hours to receive TCLEOSE credit in Civil Process.

Fee Increase

The Registration Fee/Texas State University Overhead Assessment
Fee for all Twenty-Hour Seminars is now $100.00. Our grant
has not increased in a number of years and this increase will allow
us to off-set inflation so we can keep offering quality education
without decreasing the number of attendees. It will in fact allow us
to offer more training opportunities such as the three One-Day
Workshops we have planned for this academic year. Registration
information for the workshops will be sent at a later date. Keep
checking our website www.tjctc.org for updates.

Online Registration

STEP 1. Go to the Training Center’s Website at www.tjctc.org, enter the Online Registration Section, and login.

STEP 2. Locate the seminar you wish to attend and register online for that seminar. Be sure to choose your breakout classes and room type. You will receive a pop-up message that your registration was processed.

STEP 3. Print your invoice immediately. (Your invoice will reflect the $80.00 registration fee and the $20.00 Texas State Overhead Assessment for a total of $100.00*) Payment is due at least 2 weeks prior to the seminar. Your name will not be listed on the online roster until we have received your payment.

STEP 4. Once the invoice has been paid (or P.O. processed) you will receive an e-mail confirmation. Also your name will appear on the seminar roster.  You will be able to click on it and print out your confirmation letter which will include specific instructions such as hotel location, room accommodations and other pertinent information. PLEASE DO NOT CALL the Training Center to check whether your online registration is complete or fees have been received.

Registration by Fax

STEP 1. Complete the registration form by providing all the information requested. If any portion of the registration form is incomplete, it will be returned to you, possibly delaying or even preventing you from attending the seminar of your choice. Don’t forget that some seminar sites fill up rapidly. Submit one registration form per person. Any multi-registrations on one form will be returned to you with no registration being made. The Training Center recommends that you make multiple copies of the registration forms. This is the only registration information you will receive regarding the Civil Process seminars this academic year. Additional information and catalogues are available onthe training center’s website at www.tjctc.org.

STEP 2. Fax or mail your registration form to the Training Center.  Keep confirmation from your machine that the fax was successful.  DO NOT CALL the Training Center to check whether your fax has been received.

STEP 3. You will be sent an acknowledgement letter and an invoice which will reflect the $80.00 registration fee and $20.00 Texas State Overhead Assessment for a total of $100.00.*

STEP 4. After your invoice has been paid, a confirmation letter will be mailed to all accepted registrants. Your confirmation letter will include specific instructions such as hotel location, verification of sleeping accommodations and other pertinent information. Regret letters will be sent to those who are not accepted. See Regret Letter below

Letters & Changes

Regret Letter: If you receive a regret letter, the seminar you registered for is full. At that time you may register for a different location or be put on a waiting list for the seminar you originally selected.

Cancellations will not be accepted over the phone. You must mail or fax a copy of the Cancellation/Change Form provided. If the Training Center receives the cancellation form within 2 weeks of the seminar, the refund process will begin. If you cancel thereafter, you may not apply fees toward any other upcoming seminar within the academic year and you will not be eligible for a refund.

Persons who register and “No-Show” a seminar will not be eligible to receive a refund or attend a Training Center 20-Hour Civil Process seminar for the remainder of this academic year and the following academic year.

Exceptions will be made on a cases by case basis

Hotel Information

Hotel Reservations: The Training Center makes all hotel reservations for the seminars listed in this catalog. You should only call the hotel for medical emergencies, early or late arrival, directions, or to reach an attendee of the seminar. The hotel will not give you reservation information. If you wish to make a change to your reservations, please do so by choosing Edit/Cancel button under online registration and selecting edit. Your confirmed hotel accommodations will be listed in the confirmation letter.

Hotel Check-In:  When you arrive at the hotel, a line of credit must be established between you and the hotel for incidental charges. You may be asked to present a major credit card or cash deposit.  Do not use a personal debit card for deposits or incidentals when checking into the hotel. The unused balance of your deposit will be returned to you upon check out. Standard hotel check in time is 3:00 p.m. For this reason, you may be asked to store your luggage at the bell-stand until clean rooms become available. If you plan to arrive at the hotel after 6:00 p.m. on the check-in day, you will be responsible for calling the hotel and guaranteeing your room with a personal credit card. *Since the Isla Grand in South Padre is a resort destination, if you cancel your registration after 72 hours from the seminar date or “No Show”, you will be responsible for paying the entire room rate ($85 + tax).

Early Arrival or Late Stay: If you plan to arrive prior to the seminar start date, or intend to stay longer than the conclusion of the seminar, you will be solely responsible for contacting the hotel to make the reservations and are responsible for all extra costs.

Room Selection: There is a section on the registration form for you to choose the type of room reservation you require. You must select from the choices provided on the form. If you leave this section blank the form will be returned to you as incomplete.

* Pursuant to the grant conditions, the registration fee is mandatory and is returned to the grant to be spent as restricted funds. The Texas State University Overhead Assessment is used for activity expenses that the Grant cannot cover, such as excess meal and break costs, salary supplements, etc. These unrestricted funds are deposited into the Texas State University account. Counties or individuals who cannot afford the Overhead Assessment may request a waiver.
