NEW JUDGES’ PUBLICATIONS RESOURCE LIST

The Training Center has put together this list of materials you will probably need right away when you take office. It is a “starter” list for you to consider acquiring for your office if they are not already there. This is not an exhaustive list, so the Justice Court Deskbooks will be your primary resource until you decide what you need for your office.

FORMS

All TJCTC forms are found in the Texas Justice Court Deskbook; civil in Volume IV, and criminal in Volume III, as well as scattered throughout the material they are used with. A Table of Forms can be found in the front of each Volume after the Table of Contents. The latest version of the 7-volume Deskbook you should have is the printed version (2008) and the CD-only version (2010). The 2010 CDs contain the post-legislative updates from 2009 and must be used with the printed volumes in order for you to be using the most current material.

If you want to download forms that can be used as templates for direct typing, and you have Internet access, go to the TJCTC Web site at www.tjctc.org, click on Forms and Publication at the top of the Home page, select “JP Deskbooks” from the drop down menu, and you will see links for “Civil Forms” and “Criminal Forms”. At the top of each group of the forms you will see a .zip file. This contains all of the civil or criminal forms, whichever you selected. You can just download the .zip file and get everything or you can go through the itemized list and get just what you want.

INTERNET INFORMATION

If you need information about a particular state agency, and you have Internet access, you can find much of what you may need on the Web. Go on-line at http://www.tsl.state.tx.us/trail/agencies.html to access the alphabetical link page of all State agencies. Click on the alpha link, and select the agency’s Web Site from the list.
