Recent legislation passed in 2017 requiring all bailiffs in the State of Texas to receive 8-hours of Court Security training by September 1, 2019. Join TJCTC for programs around the state in order to receive your mandated course.

Bailiff Requirements

The TCOLE approved course for the Court Security Officer class is to give the court security officer a basic understanding of the threats associated with court settings as well as technology and techniques for court security operations in compliance with Government Sec. 158.002. 

To qualify for a Court Security, an applicant must meet all proficiency requirements per Texas Administrative Code Title 37, Part 7, Chapter 221, as well as completion of course #10999. 

The completion of course #10999 must be obtained by August 31, 2019. TJCTC will provide several opportunities around the state for bailiffs to obtain this certification. 


Court Security Officer Training Locations

El Paso - August 21st 

Who can attend? 
Anyone who is a bailiff including Constables, Deputy Constables, Sheriffs and Sheriff Deputies. Registration opens June 21st! The cost is $50 per participant. 

What does the $50 include? 
The registration fee includes a continental breakfast, a hot lunch, and breaks throughout the day, as well as course materials. It does not include a hotel room, although TJCTC does have a small room block at government rate if an attendee would like to stay at the hotel. Note this on your registration.

TJCTC will not be paying for any portion of attendees' room nights. However, we do have a small room block at government rate. If you would like to book a room at the government rate, please indicate this in your registration.

Longview - September 10th 

Who can attend? 
Anyone who is a bailiff including Constables, Deputy Constables, Sheriffs, Sheriff Deputies and Municipal police. Registration opens July 30th! The cost is $50 per participant. 

What does the $50 include? 
The registration fee includes a continental breakfast, a hot lunch, and breaks throughout the day, as well as course materials. It does not include a hotel room. The hotel is willing to offer some rooms at government rate but attendees will need to contact the hotel and book their own room.

TJCTC will not be providing hotel rooms for this program. However, the hotel may offer rooms for our program at the government rate. Attendees wanting to secure a room should contact the hotel and mention our meeting in order to book their room.

16-Hour Advanced Court Security Training in Austin
 

In addition to the 8-hour trainings we will be holding around the state, TJCTC will be offering an in-depth version of TCOLE Course #10999 in Austin on February 10 - 13, 2019. The course will bring in state and national speakers on different topics including Screening, Explosives Recognition, and Judicial Protection. The program will end with a Court Security Practical that will feature real-life scenarios from around the state.  

This program will be held at the Omni Southpark Hotel in Austin, TX.
