Core Curriculum

Big changes this year! 

Due to COVID-19, Judges can get all 20 hours for the 2021 academic year online. We are offering many different types of online education as well as tentative in-person programs this summer. (We will make a decision in March regarding in-person summer programs). 

10-Hour Core Curriculum 

TJCTC's premiere program will consist of 10 hours of education live education, covering a variety of civil and criminal topics. Several 10-hour core curriculum courses will be virtual. Click below to read more about each program.

  • March JP 10-Hour Core Curriculum - VIRTUAL

    Join us virtually for the 10-hour JP Core Curriculum program. The 10-hours are offered in the afternoons over several days. 

    Agenda

    Tuesday, March 30th – 1:00 – 4:00 p.m.

    • It's a Brave New World
    • Occupational Driver's Licenses

    Wednesday, March 31st – 1:00 – 4:00 p.m.

    • Interpreters
    • Common Defenses in Civil Cases

    Thursday, April 1st – 1:00 – 5:00 p.m.

    • Criminal and Civil Judgments 
    • Enforcing Criminal Judgments 

    Details

    • Total cost for seminar = $50 (Includes a $25 registration fee + $25 overhead assessment)
    • Please note: The core curriculum program offers the same classes both virtually and in-person. Therefore, judges can only sign up for 1 core curriculum course.
    • 10 hours of education, including 7 civil hours, is available at this program.
    • Registration opens January 26th
  • April JP 10-Hour Core Curriculum - VIRTUAL

    Join us virtually for the 10-hour JP Core Curriculum program. The 10-hours are offered in the afternoons over several days.

    • Please note: The core curriculum program offers the same classes both virtually and in-person. Therefore, judges can only sign up for 1 core curriculum course.
    • 10 hours of education, including 7 civil hours, is available at this program.
    • Registration opens January 26th
  • Join us in Lubbock at the Overton Hotel for the 10-hour JP Core Curriculum program which will offer general sessions and breakouts on the most pressing topics affecting justice courts.  

    Details

    • Total cost for seminar = $75 (Includes a $25 registration fee + $50 overhead assessment)
    • Total cost for hotel lodging = $110 ($55/night for two nights at the Overton Hotel)  
    • Registration opens in late March. 
    • Please note: The core curriculum program offers the same classes both virtually and in-person. Therefore, judges can only sign up for 1 core curriculum course.

    Please note: This is a 10-hour program (1.5 days of education). In order to get your entire 20 hours, you will also need to sign up for the JP Lubbock Evictions workshop that starts after this program ends. 

  • Join us in Austin at the Omni Southpark Hotel for the 10-hour JP Core Curriculum program which will offer general sessions and breakouts on the most pressing topics affecting justice courts.

    • Total cost for seminar = $75 (Includes a $25 registration fee + $50 overhead assessment)
    • Total cost for hotel lodging = $110 ($55/night for two nights at the Overton Hotel) 
    • Please note: The core curriculum program offers the same classes both virtually and in-person. Therefore, judges can only sign up for 1 core curriculum course.
    • Registration opens in late March. 

    Please note: This is a 10-hour program (1.5 days of education). Also, there is no specialty workshop backed up to this program. In order to get your entire 20 hours, you will also need to take your remaining 10 hours online or at another specialty workshop. 

  • Join us in Denton at the Denton Embassy Suites for the 10-hour JP Core Curriculum program which will offer general sessions and breakouts on the most pressing topics affecting justice courts.

    • Total cost for hotel lodging = $110 ($55/night for two nights at the Denton Embassy Suites) 
    • Please note: The core curriculum program offers the same classes both virtually and in-person. Therefore, judges can only sign up for 1 core curriculum course.
