FY20 New Judge Education Requirements

Judges were originally scheduled to attend Stage III of the 80-Hour New Judge Program in Austin this April. However, TJCTC has canceled all live education programs through at least May 31st due to the coronavirus pandemic. (If you have already submitted payment for Stage III, we will refund you as soon as we are able to.)

The Court of Criminal Appeals has released an emergency order allowing you to get your remaining 24 hours of new judge education online due to this unique situation.

There are specific online classes you will be required to receive:

  • There are 6 webinars listed below that are specifically required for a total of 12 hours.
  • Judges must watch an additional 12 hours on the webinar topics of their choosing. To see a list of webinars, click here
  • Please review the supplemental handouts and information listed below as well.
  • All of these requirements must be completed by August 31, 2020. After you watch each webinar below, fill out the webinar certification form to receive credit.

In addition, any judge that would like to attend Stage III next year may attend, but attendance will not be required.
