2021 Legislative Updates

TJCTC will be providing both virtual and in-person legislative updates for justices of the peace and justice court staff. Check out the dates and locations below. 

Each legislative update is worth 4 hours of judicial education credit, including 2 civil hours. 

Registration opens Wednesday, June 16th.

  • Join us in Lubbock at the Overton Hotel for the 2021 Legislative Update. 

    Agenda

    Breakfast and registration will run from 8:00 - 9:00 a.m. The program is estimated to run from 9:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. on August 23rd. Lunch will also be provided. 

    Cost

    $50 registration fee (Includes a $25 registration fee + $25 overhead assessment)

    If you would like to stay at the hotel, the hotel fee will be $55 for the night of August 22nd at the Overton Hotel. Reservations will be handled through TJCTC; you do not need to contact the hotel to reserve a room.

    Who can attend? 

    This program is open to judges, clerks, and other court staff. 

  • Join us in Longview at the Holiday Inn Longview for the 2021 Legislative Update. 

    Agenda

    Breakfast and registration will run from 8:00 - 9:00 a.m. The program is estimated to run from 9:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. on August 24th.  Lunch will also be provided. 

    Cost

    $50 registration fee (Includes a $25 registration fee + $25 overhead assessment)

    If you would like to stay at the hotel, the hotel fee will be $55 for the night of August 23rd at the Holiday Inn Longview.  Reservations will be handled through TJCTC; you do not need to contact the hotel to reserve a room.

  • Join us via Zoom Webinar on August 26th for a virtual legislative update. This virtual legislative update will take place in the afternoon. 

    Agenda

    The program is estimated to run from 1:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. on August 26th. 

    Cost

    $50 registration fee (Includes a $25 registration fee + $25 overhead assessment)

    Who can attend? 

    This program is open to judges, clerks, and other court staff. 

    You do not need a camera or microphone to attend; only a way to watch and listen to the program. 

    A Zoom link will be sent out the day before the program. 

  • Join us in McAllen at the Doubletree Suites by Hilton McAllen for the 2021 Legislative Update. 

    Agenda

    Breakfast and registration will run from 8:00 - 9:00 a.m. The program is estimated to run from 9:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. on August 30th. Lunch will also be provided. 

    Cost

    $50 registration fee (Includes a $25 registration fee + $25 overhead assessment)

    If you would like to stay at the hotel, the hotel fee will be $55 for the night of August 29th at the Doubletree Suites by Hilton McAllen.  Reservations will be handled through TJCTC; you do not need to contact the hotel to reserve a room.

  • Join us via Zoom Webinar on August 31st for a virtual legislative update. This virtual legislative update will take place in the morning.

    The program is estimated to run from 8:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. on August 31st.

    Who can attend? 

    This program is open to judges, clerks, and other court staff. 

    You do not need a camera or microphone to attend; only a way to watch and listen to the program.

  • This program is being held by North Texas JPCA. Registration and payment will be made directly to North Texas JPCA.

  • Frequently Asked Questions

    • In light of Governor Abbott’s Executive Order GA 36 and Texas State University’s accompanying statement, masks will be encouraged, but not required, at TJCTC education events. Hotels may require masks as they are not covered by the emergency order. 

      We strongly encourage mask wearing if you are not vaccinated. TJCTC cares about your health and the health of your communities.

      If you are no longer comfortable attending an in-person event, you will not be charged for cancelling and may obtain all hours virtually. Please contact the training center as soon as possible if you would like to cancel.

    • Yes, but in order to receive credit for the program, you will need to pay for each individual person watching in the group. 

    • For all programs except for Granbury, you will log into your TJCTC profile to register. 

      For Granbury, you will register with North Texas JPCA and follow the instructions on the registration form
