New Judge Self-Paced Module - New Judge Toolkit

Available at anytime. Please try to complete it before your first new judge stage. The module will take approximately 2 hours to complete. It does not need to be done in one sitting.

Module description: The best place to start is with TJCTC's New Judge Toolkit module which will introduce you to our organization and walk you through all of our resources. 

This module is currently under construction and will be available in Fall 2026. Look for an email when the module is available.


New Judge Self-Paced Module - Legal Research and Resources

Books

Available at anytime. Please try to complete it before your first new judge stage. The module will take approximately 2 hours to complete. It does not need to be done in one sitting.

This course will cover where to look and what to do when you need to research a legal question. It will also provide the opportunity to practice your research skills and find the answers to actual legal questions.

This module is currently under construction and will be available in Fall 2026. Look for an email when the module is available.


Virtual 8-Hour Magistration Course - Damon Allen Act

Available at anytime. Must be completed within 90 days of taking office. 

The course has several components, which can be completed at your own pace. 

Note: You cannot receive credit until you have been officially appointed. If you are elected in November, we will cover this topic in our New Judge Programs.

After completing the 8-hour bail education, submit the completion form found on the Bail Education page so we can add the credit to your transcript.


Looking for more educational events?

While not required, new judges can attend workshops and any online education. However, these hours cannot substitute out the required training listed on this page.
