Welcome to justice court! As a justice court clerk, you are an integral part of the justice system in Texas. And TJCTC is excited to help you learn more.

We are excited to bring you a virtual conference for new court personnel! This conference will be happening via Zoom on August 26th and 27th. Here's what you need to know about the conference:
- Each day will start at 8:30 am and end at 4:00 pm.
- There are 2 optional Q&A portions during lunch (12:15 pm - 1:15 pm) and after the last class (4:00 pm - 5:00 pm). During these Q&A sessions, you will have access to our attorneys to ask them whatever you want!
- Wednesday will be covering the Training Center, legal advice, and the basics of civil.
- Thursday you will go over residential evictions and basics of criminal.
- Both days will have some professional development between legal topics.
- You will need to attend the whole conference to receive credit for it, so if you mostly deal with criminal you will need to stay for the civil portions and vice versa.*
- The virtual conference will be held using Zoom and an app called Eventsential. You can download the app on iPhone here and for Android here. A week before the conference you will receive an email from Eventsential to set up your account.
- What you will need for this conference:
- An internet connection
- A Zoom account
- A laptop/computer/phone/tablet with a microphone (and preferably a camera) so you can interact with everyone at the conference.
- Handouts - you can have these printed or digitally (these will be available on Monday)
To register, log in to your TJCTC account, and then click "Online Registration" and then "Register Online". Select "Virtual New Court Personnel Conference" under "Court Personnel Seminar". Once your registration is submitted you will receive a confirmation letter.

A New Employee Form must be filled out and submitted by your judge prior to creating a login. Please have your Judge follow Steps 1 - 3 in order to begin the process. Judges, please complete steps 1 - 3 in order to add your new court personnel to our database.
Steps 1 - 3: New Employee Form (JUDGES ONLY)
Visit www.tjctc.org or click here for the New Employee Form.
Enter your (the Judge's) username and password into the fields provided.
The New Employee Request Form screen will appear.
Complete the required fields (*) for your new employee.
Click "Send Form".
Note: All accounts go through a manual approval process. Please allow 24-48 business hours for TJCTC to process the information. An email confirming that the new employee has been added will be sent to the email address provided at the time of submission. If you don't see your email within a few days please check your spam folder and make sure you whitelist our email address.
Steps 4 - 6: Creating a Username and Password (CLERKS ONLY)
Visit www.tjctc.org or click here to login.
Click "Create User ID & Password".
Type in your first and last name and select your county.
Select a security question. This will help in case you need to reset your username or password.
Once the "Submit button" is selected, your TJCTC Profile page will display.

Please note: Not every JP in each county has every duty. For example, JP's in larger counties with medical examiners do not do inquests.
The most important legal resource you will use are TJCTC's deskbooks. They go through the procedure for each area of JP jurisdiction and provide easy to understand explanations and steps.

One of the trickiest ethical considerations for court personnel is to understand the difference in providing legal information which is ethical and important versus providing legal advice which is not allowed.
